The ARYS Stack Assessment

Know your stack. Know where to start.

Most technology investments stall for a simple reason: nobody has a clear, unbiased picture of what’s working, what’s broken, and what to fix first. The Stack Assessment gives you that picture in 21 days.

What you’ll know

Three things most organizations can’t answer right now.

The information usually exists. Nobody has had the time to put it in one place and put it in order.

Where your money is actually going

A complete map of every tool, subscription, and integration against what it is actually delivering. Across more than 40 million software licenses, Zylo’s 2026 benchmark found organizations leave an average of 36% of their licenses unused. The map shows you what that number is for you.

What’s broken and why

Root-cause analysis of every data gap, pipeline failure, integration break, and capability hole in your current state. Sources, not symptoms: I trace every problem back to where it actually starts.

Exactly what to fix first

A prioritized, scored action plan built around your actual capacity and constraints. Every recommendation is ranked by business impact and implementation effort, so there’s no guessing about where to start.

Assessment types

Technology, data, or both.

Pick the one that matches what’s worrying you most. Each is a 21-day engagement at a flat, published price, with the same three-week process and board-ready output.

Pricing

Flat fees, published.

Every engagement has a flat fee and an hours cap, agreed before anything starts. If the work takes me longer than the cap, that’s on me. If the scope grows because you ask for more (another department, more systems, more interviews), we agree a written change at $250 an hour before I do it. I take on one assessment at a time, so yours gets my full attention; you’ll get a start date when we scope it.

Tech Stack Check-up

$4,500

Up to 20 hours · about two weeks

A short questionnaire, a half-day working session on your stack, and a two-page written readout: the quick wins, and the long-term direction. A good first step if you’re not sure a full assessment is warranted yet. If you go on to a full assessment, the $4,500 is credited toward it in full.

Assessment Essentials

$9,500

Up to 40 hours · 21 days

The Technology or Data Assessment, sized for smaller organizations: up to about five core systems and four stakeholder interviews. Same three deliverables and readout.

Technology or Data Assessment

$15,000

Up to 60 hours · 21 days

The full standalone assessment on one track, for organizations with a bigger stack or more stakeholders. Three deliverables and a 90-minute readout.

Combined Assessment

$22,500

Up to 95 hours · 21 days

Both tracks side by side, the cross-track dependency analysis, and one integrated roadmap. Four deliverables. Less than running the two separately.

Remote by default; if you’d like me on site, travel is at cost. Half the fee at kickoff, half at the readout.

Vendors. When a decision involves vendors, I’ll give you more than one option, tell you which I’d choose and why, and tell you in writing if any of them would pay me a referral fee. You make the call. I never suggest a vendor I don’t believe in. On paid assessments, any referral fee is credited back to you.

How it runs

Three weeks, no disruption.

The assessment runs alongside your day-to-day work. I don’t need access to your systems, I don’t borrow your staff, and nothing gets disrupted.

Week 1

Discovery

Kickoff call, stakeholder interviews, system and data inventory, contract and documentation collection.

  • Kickoff call (90 min)
  • 2–3 stakeholder interviews (30 min each)
  • System and data source inventory
  • Contract and spend data collection
Week 2

Analysis

I score everything against your business requirements and rank the findings by impact, effort, and cost. For the combined assessment, I also map the cross-track dependencies.

  • System and data scoring
  • Technical debt and quality risk mapping
  • Spend and redundancy analysis
  • Roadmap sequencing
Week 3

Readout

You get every deliverable, and we walk through them together on a 90-minute readout call. The executive summary is board-ready from the moment you receive it.

  • All deliverables delivered
  • Readout call with leadership (90 min)
  • Q&A and next-step discussion
  • 30-day follow-up window
What you receive

Not a slide deck. Working documents.

I write each deliverable for a specific reader, and it’s meant to be used right away: by your team, your board, or in your next vendor conversation.

01

Executive Summary

Two to four pages, board-ready from delivery. Headline risks, top three recommendations, investment range to address them. Suitable for board and committee presentation.

02

Findings Report

The full picture for IT and operations leadership. Every system or data source assessed, every gap documented, technical debt and quality issues mapped by business severity.

03

Prioritized Roadmap

A sequenced action plan ordered by impact, effort, and cost. Quick wins callable in 90 days, 12-month priorities, and 3-year horizon items. Cost range per action.

The Combined Assessment adds a fourth deliverable: an integrated executive summary that shows how technology and data risks compound each other, and the sequenced investment case that addresses both.

Who gets the most value

Any organization at an inflection point.

It’s most useful when a big decision is on the table and leadership needs a clear, external, unbiased read before committing.

Pre-platform decision

Before you commit to an AMS or donor CRM replacement, an ERP migration, or another major platform investment. The assessment tells you which requirements should drive the selection, before the vendor conversation starts.

Common find: selection criteria that would have locked in the wrong platform

Post-implementation reality check

The system went live, but the promised outcomes haven’t shown up. I’ll find out why, and what it will take to close the gap.

Common find: implementation gaps that vendors rarely surface proactively

New CTO or IT leadership

A new technology leader needs a quick, credible picture of the current state before recommending a direction. The assessment is the fastest path to that picture.

Common find: inherited decisions with no documentation of why they were made

Leadership asking about AI

The board wants a roadmap for AI adoption. The assessment tells you whether the technology and data foundation is actually there to support it, and what needs to change first.

Common find: AI use cases blocked by data gaps, not by technology

Three weeks to complete clarity.

Tell me what’s going on and I’ll scope the right assessment with you. Most engagements begin within two weeks of the initial conversation.

Not ready for that? That’s fine. Ask me a question instead. Plenty get answered in one email, and you don’t need an assessment to get a straight answer.
